honestly just like every time ppl act like There Werent Ship Wars In The Old Days Fandom Was Better Then im just .. ????? what fandom were u in, pal ,

remember the good old days when actual humans would debate over whether a person being placed first in the “name1/name2” pairing format meant they were The Top

yeah okay back in 1984 when i shipped Kirk/Spock an elderly librarian Bones stan jabbed me with her knitting needles in a very aggressive manner so no

My first fandom war was the RayV vs RayK fiery inferno in the Due South fandom and I haven’t seen a significant change in fandom since, so…

In the early SW fanzine days (late 70s) there was a very vicious war over who was really the main character/hero of the movie, Han or Luke. By the time I discovered fanzines around 1980 or so, after The Empire Strikes Back came out, it had mostly calmed down, but you could still see the metaphorical bombed-out cities and dead bodies strewn everywhere. The good thing about flame wars carried out by mail and fanzine lettercolumns is that it was hard for new people to get swept into it.
