Imagine Jim's notebooks from the Academy being filled with colors and doodles. Bc he understands information way more clearly if it's color-coded, and why not add drawings too? One day he lends it to Spock for something, and the Vulcan is greeted with a blast of color and sparkle (bc sparkle pens are awesome)
