First released by Bantam in 1976, this is known as one of the all time worst Trek novels and for good reason. Despite this, it has a certain retro charm and popularity with novel nerds (such as myself.) Much like many of the earliest novels, this is but merely a product of its time and now seems irrelevant especially with so much established canon since the initial run of TOS.
