Headcannon that pre-reform Spock’s hair is way too long to wear loose without violating like three regulations but, since Vulcan hair is a sign of social status, there is no chance in hell he’s cutting it. This is the only hairdo that Spock didn’t find utterly repulsive and complied with regulations. Jim gets up half an hour early to do it everyday before shift. After the Hair Crisis of Omicron II, anytime Jim is incapacitated (aka. Bones has him sedated in sickbay) either Uhura or Rand will help Spock with his hair.

Omg but imagine if whenever prereform Spock was injured on an away mission and would refuse to go to Med bay so Bones would just come to the bridge and literally drag Spock there by his hair
